Prompted by recent criticisms, I would like to re-write some of the older posts from the archives that have been recently resurrected (including, but not limited to, the Fundamentals post) to be more inclusive and more representative of this blog as a whole and of Team UfYH as a community….
you know what? i’m gonna agree with the general concensus of people who are stating not to change a damn thing. DO NOT CHANGE A DAMN THING!!!! and for those pesky little bitches peeps who try to bully you into being more sensitive to people who are depressed/have disabilites and what not, keep this in mind: I HAVE SEVERE DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, ASTHMA, A LEARNING DISABILITY, AND I’M COPING WITH GRIEF, AND THIS BLOG HAS TOTALLY TURNED MY LIFE AROUND!!! Elenor roosvelt said “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE CONSENT TO WALK ALL OVER YOU!!!! (or your blog for that matter.) When i last checked, the first amendment in the US constitution still stands and you don’t have to take lip from anyone who tries to state otherwise. (for those not familiar with the US Constitution: the first amendment is the Freedom of Speech, press, religion, etc.)
I honestly don’t think they need rewriting. They are perfect just as they are.
CHANGE. NOTHING. UfYH has been a major inspiration, not only in unfucking my habitat but my whole life. And I never felt a moment of shame.
Just caught up on last night’s shit-fest. My only advice would be to stop referring to your own tactics as “shame”. They’re not. I know shame
Don’t change a thing. I don’t know who the people who are complaining are, but I sure as hell don’t want them trying to speak for THIS person with a disability. I’ve got a big enough mouth to speak for myself, thank them very much.
You are fabulous exactly as you are. I have a disability and find the system and the way you phrase things inclusive and brilliant!
Maybe add a disclaimer about health at the beginning/end but otherwise I think you’re golden, seriously. All love to UFYH.
Your advice and your delivery are both incredibly well grounded. Don’t rewrite a damn thing.
I got nothin’. You can’t be everything for everyone all the time. Part of being an adult is making things work for yourself.
Don’t change. Whatever your issue is, you still should wipe up that raw meat juice on the counter and get your clothes off the damn floor.
The only thing to do is ask more disabled folks how they feel about the overall tone, and incorporate their feedback. It’s impossible to incorporate everyone, what some consider shaming is the guilt they don’t want to deal with projected onto you
i only just found you and i think you are perfect as you are. you’re not shaming with your tone at all.
Keep being awesome and don’t crucify yourself :)
